dRAST

Rapid phenotypic AST from positive blood culture

dRAST provides phenotypic, MIC-based antimicrobial susceptibility results directly from positive blood culture, helping clinical teams reach informed antibiotic decisions faster in bloodstream infection.

dRAST
Overview

dRAST (Direct & Rapid Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test) from QuantaMatrix is a phenotypic, MIC-based AST system designed for the bloodstream-infection workflow. It performs susceptibility testing directly from a positive blood culture, with the aim of delivering actionable results substantially sooner than conventional culture-based workflows.

In critically ill patients with bloodstream infection and sepsis, timely de-escalation or escalation of antibiotics is important. By shortening the path from positive culture to a phenotypic MIC, dRAST is intended to support earlier optimisation of antimicrobial therapy, in alignment with antimicrobial stewardship goals and patient-centred care.

The platform is built for the realities of a busy microbiology laboratory: no McFarland preparation and minimal sample handling are required, panels are available for both Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms, and an on-board expert system interprets results against selectable interpretive guidelines. With random-access loading and a low-maintenance design, dRAST is intended to fit a continuous, walk-away workflow.
